Punny Critter Cards

All Occasion Cards, CAS Cards, Critter Cards

I love puns and I love critters, so my favourite thing to do on a card is to put the two together!

I kept this french bulldog card really clean and simple, since I usually can’t stop layering on my cards. I trimmed two strips of green striped paper and stuck those along the top and bottom. Then I stamped the dog on my white background.

Having used Spectrum Noir markers in warm greys to colour the dog and the heart in, I then used white gel pen to dot his cheeks. I stamped my sentiment with clear alphabet stamps and, as a finishing touch, added 3D glue (my cheap version of Glossy Accents!) to the heart and clear Wink of Stella pen to the dog.

The next card is one I’ve been wanting to  make for a while, ever since I bought the Paper Smooches Zoo Crew stamp set.

i look up to you

I trimmed white card down to work on (I very rarely stamp directly on to my blank card in case I want to wrap ribbon around, or in case any ink bleeds through to the other side). Then I stamped the giraffe and the hippo.

They are both coloured in with Spectrum Noir coloured pencils, the ‘Essentials’ collection, and blended with the white pencil on top. I considered adding Wink of Stella to these two but kept it matte to keep it a bit more gender-neutral (though of course there’s no reason why men can’t have a little bit of sparkle!).

Then I stamped my sentiments between and below the critters. Finally, I took a ruler and a regular ballpoint pen and drew a quirky border around the card.

Clean and Simple Lamb Card

Baby Cards

I bought this stamp in the sale months ago and have never used it because I couldn’t work out what sort of card it would work for, as I don’t make Easter cards. But he was just so cute, I had to buy him! So in the spirit of my No New Products challenge, I forced myself to just stamp him and see what happened.

I’m really pleased with how he came out. The colouring was done with Spectrum Noir pencils,  which I would usually blend with Gamsol but this time I decided to run my white pencil over it afterwards to blend instead.

lamb me to you

He looks gorgeous in that little lamb outfit, and I haven’t gone for a sentiment because I still wasn’t sure what occasion it would be for, but I suppose it could work well as a new baby card or announcement.

Wedding Words

Wedding Cards

For some reason I really love making wedding cards. The great thing about this one is that you could use it for any wedding stationery – menus, invitations, RSVPs etc. I went for words that could follow ‘wedding’ but you could just have words that relate to it instead if you prefer.

I also love monochrome, so I really like the effect of this card with just a little touch of blue. The first thing I did was trim my white card down and rub on the word ‘WEDDING’ at the top.

Then I started working on the stamping. It took ages because of assembling all the words out of alphabet stamps, but you could still make a lot of these in a short space of time because you’d assemble it once then stamp it several times. Once I’d stamped all my words, I stamped the cake image at the bottom (and decided to put ‘CAKE’ in capitals because of this).

Finally I did a bit of shading on the cake and added a touch of blue with Spectrum Noir markers, then cut down the black glitter strip and stuck that at the side.

Quote Cards

Uncategorized

NO copyright infringement intended – I am not making money out of my cards. I do this for fun.

I am a huge Disney fan and think quotes are just perfect for card-making. I have plans for many more movie-inspired cards (they work great at Christmas) but these are my favourites so far.

“Winnie the Pooh” Graduation Card

Winnie the Pooh graduation

This is a very simple card but took ages because I had to assemble a pretty long quote from scratch. Using Milo’s ABCs to do this, I stamped it in 3 sections vertically down the card.

I trimmed around that, leaving enough room for the Congratulations which I die-cut out of dark-blue paper along with adhesive paper. Then I was able to peel off the backing and stick it straight on to my card.

These stamps are from Hobbycraft and only cost 50p-£1 each. Hobbycraft have lots of bargains on clear stamps like these – some of them are exactly the same images as their more-expensive wooden stamps, just a little bit smaller.

Using coloured pencils and Gamsol, I coloured the hat in and did some subtle shading on the scroll. I stuck it all down and voila! A custom-quote graduation card.

“Frozen” Christmas Card

%22Frozen%22 Xmas card

The popularity of Frozen has to be more extreme than any Disney film before it. Even with beloved films like The Lion King, I don’t remember the merchandise being in nearly every shop.

My niece loves Frozen, like most little girls, so this will probably be her Christmas card next year. I wanted to try some partial die-cutting, which I have to admit I struggle with. It took some effort to get the snowflakes how I wanted them.

Then I cut some more snowflakes out of glittery silver paper, and glued them on the white background. Again, I used Milo’s ABCs for this sentiment, though I decided to switch it up and use some more playful alphabet stamps for the word “worth”.

I heat-embossed this  and stuck it on white glitter card, which I then cut around with decorative-edged scissors for a pretty border. I love the wintery feel of the snowflakes along with all the glitter.

Finally I stamped this little snowman head and shaded him with Spectrum Noir pens, before sticking everything down on a blank blue card.
